The Children’s Activity Centre, known as the “Nature House” was established by the Foundation in 1991. Our Air Canada Golf Classic annual fundraiser enabled us to make some repairs to the building (originally a park restaurant), buy supplies and pay wages.
The Centre’s regular program includes story and movie time, puppet shows, arts and crafts activities, computer games, nature walks and other environmental games. In addition, we offer a Junior Naturalist Program and our annual Kid’s Day and Kid’s Concert special event.
Environmental education and awareness, good conservation attitudes and responsible recreational use of the outdoors are important themes in all of our programs. We maintain aquariums, terrariums, insectaries, and vermi-composting, allowing our participants the opportunity to have a “hands on” experience with nature.
Nature House is an important part of Terra Nova National Park, enjoyed and appreciated by parents and children alike.
